From a standard single door to cyclonic-rated
Most shed openings take a standard roller door. The rest is width, wind and what the door has to live with. These are the classes we work across — and the exact range and model gets confirmed against your opening, not the other way round.
Residential roller doors suit many single-garage and smaller shed openings, either hand-operated or paired with a compatible opener.
Available dimensions, colours and hardware vary by manufacturer and door series. We confirm the current product range against the measured opening, required clearances, site exposure and budget before ordering.
Past a typical single-vehicle opening, curtains, guides, drums and motors can all step up. The workable width depends on the selected door series, opening height, wind classification and hardware, so we confirm the current manufacturer limits rather than quote one universal maximum.
Wind performance can also change as the opening gets larger. It is worth resolving the door system before the opening is framed, especially on exposed rural sites.
Industrial roller doors use heavier curtains, guides and operating hardware than a typical residential door. The suitable door and operator depend on the opening, curtain mass and area, wind classification, duty cycle, power and access.
We check the current door and operator documentation together before the opening and mounting details are finalised.
A wind-locked system is designed to keep the curtain engaged with its guides under load, helping control flex and movement in strong wind. The available systems and ratings vary by manufacturer and door series.
Whether it is required or worthwhile cannot be decided from the town name alone. The site classification, exposure, opening size, orientation and selected product all matter. Declared cyclonic sites require a certified system selected for the relevant classification; that is not something to treat as a generic upgrade.
Tell us where the shed sits, which way the door faces and the opening size. We will check the current product and engineering requirements before recommending a standard or wind-rated system.
Panel-lift (sectional) doors ride overhead on tracks instead of rolling into a drum. They suit garages and workshops where insulation, a flush street look, or an opening that doesn’t suit a drum matters.
Insulated sectional lines exist for exactly the reason our insulation guide talks about — a west-facing steel door is a radiator in January, and an insulated panel door takes the edge off the whole room behind it.
Sectional and panel-lift brochures on request — call 0405 429 962 and we’ll send the right one for your opening.
The names on the doors we work with
These are the door makers whose ranges we work across — tap a name for what their range actually covers. Which brand suits your opening gets settled on your quote, not by a logo.

Centurion supplies roller-door options across residential, wider and industrial openings, including products intended for higher-wind applications.
The suitable series and declared rating depend on the measured opening and site requirements. We confirm current availability and documentation when quoting.
Gliderol supplies residential and commercial roller-door ranges, including wind-rated options for suitable applications.
The door series, guides and rating need to match the opening and site classification. We confirm the current product and documentation when quoting.
B&D’s Roll-A-Door® family covers residential and larger commercial applications, with wind-rated options available within the broader range.
We confirm the current series, operator compatibility and any declared wind rating against the measured opening and site before ordering.
Taurean supplies roller-door ranges for residential and commercial openings, together with guide and wind-rated options for applicable sites.
We confirm the current range, availability and declared rating against the opening and site requirements when quoting.
Steel-Line supplies residential, wider and light-industrial roller-door ranges, including dedicated wind-rated products.
Published dimensions and ratings vary by series and can change as products develop. We check the current documentation against the measured opening and site when quoting.
Match the motor to the way you use the door
A door used twice a day needs a different answer from a workshop opening that cycles all week. We look at the door’s size and weight, how often it opens, available power, wind hardware and the room beside the opening.
That lets us choose an opener that will do the work without paying for capacity you do not need. If a manual door is the better spend, we will say so.
If app control, battery backup or quieter operation matters, tell us early — those choices can change the motor and the mounting space.

- App control on selected ranges
- Rolling-code remotes
- Safety auto-reverse & beams
- Auto-close & courtesy light
Grifco covers light-commercial and heavier commercial roller-door applications. Capacity and features vary by operator, door construction and wind hardware, so the selected model is checked against the current specification for door area, mass, height, duty cycle and mounting clearance.
Remote access, safety devices and backup-power options depend on the chosen operator and accessories. We confirm the compatible combination in the quote.
Merlin offers residential roller-door openers for different door sizes and weights. We match the opener to the measured door and how it will be used rather than assuming one model suits every opening.
myQ control is available on compatible opener and accessory combinations. Current Merlin guidance requires the appropriate connectivity equipment and safety devices, so these are checked as part of the selected setup.
Automatic Technology offers roller-door openers across residential, exposed-shed and commercial applications. The suitable unit depends on the door, mounting arrangement, power, duty cycle and site conditions.
Smartphone control and battery-backup options are available for selected compatible openers. We confirm the current model and required accessories rather than presenting either feature as standard across the range.
Measure the opening before you choose the door
Width and height tell us what needs to pass through. Headroom above the opening makes room for the rolled curtain, while clear space at the sides makes room for guides and the motor.
Those clearances change with the door, drum and mounting method. Wide openings and exposed sites also need the current product and wind requirements checked before the opening is finalised.
Check the opening before you order
Use the quick size tool to turn four measurements into a practical starting point. We will confirm the final door and clearances before supply.
Choose the extras that will earn their keep
Some upgrades solve an everyday problem; others only work with particular doors and motors. Open each one to see what it changes and when it is worth including in the quote.
Phone and app control
Open or check the door from your phone — handy when a delivery turns up while you’re out, or you can’t remember whether the shed’s shut. It runs on the myQ platform used by Grifco and Merlin openers.
If phone control matters to you, say so when you book — we’ll quote a motor that has it.
Battery backup for outages
A battery-backed motor still lifts the door when the power’s out — and the storm that cuts your power is usually the one you most want the shed open in. It’s built into ATA’s GDO-10 Toro, and available as an add-on across the Grifco, Merlin and wider ATA ranges.
If outages are a fact of life at your place, ask for it up front — it’s an easy line to add to the quote.
Wind-locked doors
A wind-locked system is designed to keep the curtain engaged in its guides under load instead of letting it flex or work loose in a gust. Product names, configurations and ratings vary between manufacturers and door series.
Whether it is required or worthwhile depends on the site classification, exposure, opening size, orientation and selected door. Tell us where the shed sits and we will check the current requirements instead of guessing from the region alone.
Secure remotes and rolling codes
Rolling-code remotes change their code on every press, so the signal can’t be copied and replayed. Grifco’s Security+2.0® remotes are the benchmark here, with strong range and battery life.
If gear lives in the shed, a secure remote is cheap insurance — ask us which motors on your quote carry it.
Auto-close, courtesy light and convenience extras
Small conveniences that add up: auto-close shuts the door behind you after a set time, a courtesy light covers the walk to the house, and vacation mode locks the remotes out while you’re away. Centurion’s RDO10 openers carry the full set.
If any of these would get daily use, tell us — they’re part of choosing the motor, not an afterthought.

Roller doors are their own job here
Booked on its own, quoted on its own, done on its own days. A shed build or kit supply doesn’t automatically include roller doors — and you don’t need to have bought a shed from us to book door work. Any shed, anyone’s build. Here’s exactly what each way of doing it includes.
Repair
Fixing what’s already there.
- Fault found and named before any work
- Spring, cable, track, curtain or motor — priced in the quote, not after
- Door tested and tensioned before we leave
- If it’s not worth repairing, we say so
Best for doors that have stopped doing their job.
Book a repairFit-only
You’ve got the door — we fit it properly.
- Opening checked before the door goes near it
- Guides, drum and curtain fitted and aligned
- Springs tensioned and operation tested
- Handover — how to keep it running right
Best for owner-supplied doors and kit-shed packages.
Book a fit-only installSupply & install
One point of responsibility, start to finish.
- Opening measured on site, door ordered to suit
- Delivery coordinated with the job
- Full fit-off, tested and handed over

A USEFUL FIRST CALL
You don’t need to know doors — that’s our job.
A two-minute phone call sorts most roller door jobs. This is all we actually need from you.
Where the shed is
Your town or property gets you a straight yes on coverage — roller-door callouts extend across Somerset, the Lockyer Valley and the Brisbane Valley.
What the door’s doing
Jammed, grinding, quit halfway — or the opening size if it’s a new door. Rough is fine.
Photos, if they’re easy
A phone photo of the door or the opening answers half our questions before we’re on site.
Roller door questions, answered honestly
It depends on what is actually wrong — a worn spring is a different job to a rusted track, a failed motor, or a full replacement. There is no single figure that covers every job honestly.
Often, yes, if the door and track are basically sound and one part has failed. If the door is old, out of square, or the damage runs deeper than one part, replacement can work out better over time — we will tell you honestly which applies to yours.
Generally, yes — there are more parts across an opener, its wiring, sensors and remotes, on top of the door itself. That is the trade-off for the convenience, and it is worth discussing before you choose motor over manual.
Usually it comes down to rust that was not visible until the door was opened up, an out-of-square opening, no existing power run for a motor, or parts that need more than a like-for-like swap. We will explain what changed and why before doing extra work.
Measuring the opening properly — width, height and clearance — matters more than going off a standard size chart, especially on an older shed. If you’re not sure, call us and we’ll talk you through it, or measure it on site.
Rural travel is factored into how we plan callouts across Somerset, the Lockyer Valley and the Brisbane Valley — it is part of the job, not a surprise on the day. Tell us your location and we will give you a straight answer on coverage and timing.
Fix the fault before it becomes a replacement
A door that drags, jams, drops or strains its motor can often be repaired before it damages the curtain, guides or opener. Springs, cables, tracks and motors each leave different clues.
We start with the cause, not a sales pitch. If a repair will give the door useful life, we will explain it. If the curtain or hardware is too damaged to justify the spend, we will show you why before recommending replacement.
Describe what the door is doing and add photos if you can. Roller-door work is booked separately from shed builds across Somerset, the Lockyer Valley and the Brisbane Valley, subject to access, crew and site availability.
