Start with the finish you want
ZINCALUME® steel has a metallic finish. COLORBOND® steel gives you a pre-painted finish and a choice of colours. Both are BlueScope products. Bring photos of your house, fences and other sheds when we discuss colours. Looking at physical samples together is more useful than trying to match everything on a phone.
Think about heat as a whole-shed decision
Many COLORBOND colours include Thermatech® solar reflectance technology. Performance varies with the colour, roof design, insulation and the building itself. A painted finish alone does not guarantee a cool shed. Check COLORBOND’s thermal-performance guidance and talk through the roof, insulation and ventilation together.

Compare the actual quote
Ask us to price the alternatives for the same shed design and inclusions. The difference depends on your specification and current pricing; it is more useful to see the dollar difference than rely on a general percentage.

Choose for your site
Durability depends on the specified product, environment, installation and care. Tell us about nearby salt exposure, chemicals, intensive animal housing or other unusual conditions. We can then work through the suitable specification rather than make a blanket lifespan promise.
For some sheds the metallic look is exactly what you want. For others, matching the home or landscape matters more. We will help you compare those priorities without assuming one finish is always the better buy.

Which lasts longer?
There is no single lifespan that fits every shed. Ask about the product specified for your location and the applicable BlueScope warranty, including its conditions and exclusions.
What maintenance is needed?
Follow the current care instructions for the specified steel product. Areas that do not receive rain washing can need particular attention. We can point you to the relevant guidance for your shed.
Can I choose different roof and wall finishes?
Ask us to quote the combination you have in mind. We will check the product specification and design rather than assume every combination has the same thermal performance or warranty conditions.
