Built for the Bush, Not the Brochure.
Every shed starts on your block, designed around how you’ll actually use it: machinery, workshop, horses or storage. Full build locally, engineered kits further afield.

Practical help for the shed you have in mind
Rural Built Co brings practical experience in sheds, concrete and site work to the same conversation. We’ll help you work through what your property needs and how the agreed job will come together.

Start with your property
Tell us what needs to fit and where the shed will go. We work through access, layout and the site information needed, and discuss a visit when it will help the project.

Plan the work together
Our equipment and trade capabilities help us coordinate the work included in your quote. We agree the preparation, build scope and timing around your project.

Family-owned, based in Toogoolawah
KB and Chianne run Rural Built Co from Toogoolawah. We’ll talk through the practical decisions with you and keep the agreed work and next steps clear.
Two standards. Every job. In writing.
The Build Standard for every job we build. The Kit Standard for every kit we supply. Three promises — the paddock, the engineering, the steel — are word-for-word the same in both.
Built for real farm work
Every shed includes rural-spec concrete, engineered footings for your soil type, and design that accounts for wind zones and access across the Somerset region.

Machinery Sheds
Room for your machinery, with usable clearances, suitable openings and space to move gear in and out.

Hay Sheds
Cover for your hay, planned around bale sizes, airflow, storage needs and loader access.

Horse Shelters
Practical shelter and stable space, planned around your horses and the way you care for them.

Shed Kits
The same rural-spec sheds we build for clients, supplied as engineered kits with council-ready plans, Australian steel and phone support for your local builder.

The kind of people you want on your property
We take pride in every project we build. Real words from rural clients who’ve had us on their land.
We contracted Barr Contracting to construct two COLORBOND farm sheds from footings up in 2023: a machinery shed and an open-end hay shed at our properties. KB and his crew organised everything efficiently and professionally, complied with OH&S, and respected our operations throughout. We unreservedly recommend KB for any such contract.
I highly recommend Barr Contracting for any construction project. In February 2023 they constructed a top-quality machinery shed and workshop for me, which exceeded my expectations. Their attention to detail was evident in every aspect of the build, and they always kept me informed. I couldn’t be happier with their work.

Where we differ is scale and focus. We’re a smaller, family-owned builder with our own machinery, and we concentrate purely on the Somerset and Brisbane Valley region. You deal directly with the people who are on-site building your shed, not a sales office, so you get more flexibility, faster decisions, and a builder who’s personally accountable for your project.
Both. In our local build zone (Moore to Kilcoy, Esk to Fernvale), we do the full job: design, slab, build. Outside that area, we can supply engineered kits across South-East Queensland and surrounds — delivery confirmed on your quote — for your local builder to erect.
From site visit to handover, most farm sheds take 8 to 12 weeks, depending on engineering and council. The biggest variable is often concrete cure time and weather. Because we own our gear, the build phase itself is usually the fastest part.
Rural Built Co is the trading name of Barr Contracting Pty Ltd, QBCC licence 15626231. We can provide licence and insurance details on request.
We do it all in-house. Our own excavators prep the site, and we pour rural-spec slabs engineered for heavy loads. We don’t sub-contract the most critical part of the job to the cheapest bidder.
That’s our sweet spot. We build for working farms, so custom is normal. Want a clear span sized for a specific header? Need a drive-through design that accounts for a slope? We design from the paddock up, not from a brochure down.
Absolutely. We use COLORBOND and similar steel ranges. Most clients choose colours to match existing infrastructure, and we can order custom if needed.
